Stephen Lamando

Stephen Lamando is the CEO of Shelving Rock. Steve has oversight responsibility for all of the operating business units. He also chairs the firm's Management and Investment Committees, which are responsible for Shelving Rock's strategic direction and for managing the firm's resources. Steve was the founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Clayton Services, Inc. from 1990 through 2004. Since Clayton's inception, the company has managed more than 20,000 engagements representing over $1 trillion in principal value for many of the top investment banks, mortgage companies, banks and thrifts, government-sponsored enterprises, rating agencies, mortgage insurance companies and bond insurers in the country. He started his career with Goldman Sachs & Co. in the Mortgage-Backed Whole Loan Trading area.

Brian C. Newman

Chief Financial Officer, Chief ComplianCe officer
Brian Newman is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Shelving Rock. Brian is responsible for finance, legal, portfolio reporting, human resources and administration for the company. He is also a member of the Management Committee. Brian was the Chief Administrative Officer for Clayton from 1993 through 2005. As CAO, he was responsible for the development and upgrade of the back office as it supported the company's growth from $5 mil to $150 mil in annual revenues. A CPA, Brian worked in public accounting from 1979 through 1993, specializing in acquisition, due diligence and workouts.

Joe Caravetta

Managing Director, Portfolio Management
Joe Caravetta is a Managing Director at Shelving Rock and is responsible for all portfolio management.  This includes portfolio and recovery management in addition to servicer oversight.  Prior to joining Shelving Rock, Joe served as Vice President of Default Operations for Quantum Servicing Corporation, where he was responsible for all collections, loss mitigation and recovery activities across a vast client base of investment and mortgage bankers in addition to private partners. Throughout Joe's career, he has built and managed several default management groups where he created comprehensive departmental policies and procedures in addition to pay-for-performance incentive plans. All operational goals and objectives were tailored to consistently exceed client indicators of performance (IOP's) and service level agreements (SLA's).

Steve Herbert

Managing Director, Due Diligence & ReseaRCH
Steve Herbert is a Managing Director at Shelving Rock and is responsible for acquisition due diligence, workout program analysis, and business process and systems design. Steve has twenty-five years of experience in real estate and consumer lending. Prior to joining Shelving Rock, he worked for Clayton for sixteen years as Vice President in multiple capacities including client service and management, mortgage regulatory compliance, and property valuation. During his tenure at Clayton, he was responsible for numerous process and systems developments that contributed to the success and growth of the company. Steve's professional background includes successful business endeavors as a real estate broker, appraiser, and underwriter.

Chad Betz

Managing Director, Construction and REO Management

Chad Betz is a Managing Director at Shelving Rock and is responsible for the real estate portfolio and construction projects. Chad and his team are responsible for real estate sales, construction/real estate development and rental portfolio management. He also works on strategic initiatives. Chad has worked in the mortgage industry for over 20 years. His experience ranges from the origination of prime and subprime mortgages through REO disposition This includes experience in portfolio acquisition, servicing oversight and loan sales. Most recently, Chad was a loan sale advisor with Garnet Capital, LLC where he oversaw the sale process for residential, consumer and small balance commercial loan portfolios.

Jeff London

Managing Director, Whole Loan & REO Sourcing
Jeff London is a Managing Director at Shelving Rock and is responsible for whole loan and REO sourcing. Jeff and his team work to broaden the company’s network of whole loan sellers and increase its ability to buy product which fits the investment criteria. He also interacts with the company’s counterparts from the onset of a transaction through closing. Jeff has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years and has varied experience in both institutional fixed income and as a financial advisor. Jeff started his career at UBS advising companies on issuing debt to partners and later worked for JPMorgan Chase and HSBC in similar capacities over the course of 18 years. Since 2008, Jeff focused on providing investment and financial planning advice to businesses as well as individuals. Jeff's experience in fixed income and investments provided him with a well-rounded understanding of varied fixed income products inclusive of mortgage and asset backed securities.

Ron Castro

Managing Director, Technology Oversite, Systems & Process

Mr. Castro is a Managing Director, at Shelving Rock, responsible for technology oversight and process improvement. Prior to joining Shelving Rock, Mr. Castro served at Clayton for 23 years in a variety of leadership positions, most recently as a Managing Director. He provided operational oversight of the due diligence division and was responsible for the overall development of its core underwriting and reporting platform. He is known for building long term relationships with internal and external customers with a strong commitment to their success. Mr. Castro is highly skilled at consultative sales and as a subject matter expert on loan level due diligence, mortgage servicing, RMBS 3.0 securitization requirements, regulatory compliance, property valuation, and credit underwriting. Ron also spearheaded a three year initiative to expand Clayton’s distribution of mortgage due diligence and related services throughout Europe.

Haresh Mahendran

Managing Director, Programming & AnalysiS
Haresh Mahendran is a Managing Director at Shelving Rock and is responsible for the development of software systems and maintenance of existing software used by the firm. Prior to joining the company, Haresh was employed by Clayton starting in 1993, where he began his tenure pricing and analyzing non-performing portfolios from the RTC and the FDIC. As a Senior Software Engineer, Haresh developed and implemented numerous new software modules and applications for specialized loan analytic services.

Karen Smiley

Director, Asset Research & Management
Karen Smiley is a Director at Shelving Rock and is responsible for portfolio management oversight.  In addition, she analyzes portfolios for conformity with purchase and sale agreement representations and warranties. Prior to joining the company, Karen was employed as a Vice President at Clayton in the Residential Services Group from 1994 through 2007. In this position, she was responsible for a wide variety of internal projects designed to ensure the continuous improvement of the efficiency and capability of portfolio services. She also assisted in the ongoing development of due diligence software systems to match changing industry standards and scope, and performed ongoing evaluations of underwriting staff.
